Alligator clip on adjustable cable allows use of both hands when soldering or performing other procedure. PVC covered cable bends and holds its shape to support small PC boards and wires. Conveniently wraps into the reel which also serves as base. Includes a square of double-stick tape which may be useful to support heavier objects.

Good Idea Poorly Implemented
I'm not near as generous in my rating as the other 5 star reviewer. This item clearly needs a weight in it's base to be truly useful. Hard to imagine that the manufacturer of this item didn't realize that. Or maybe like so many of the cheap poorly made products from that Asian country we've all come to hate, they just don't care as long as they get our money. At least the unit can be mounted to a 2x4 base to give it some stability, but we shouldn't have to re-design products to make them useful!

Useful but Needs Weight
The clip and the flexible mechanism is really nice. The base is simply polystyrene plastic and will not support the arm and clip without either being taped down or attaching the base to a weight. As a permanent attachment to a bench they would be great.

Good for the modest little clamp it is.
I bought two of these a year ago with the intention of shoring up my work area with an array of different clamps. I had nothing specific in mind for these but figured for $1.50 it may come in handy if a very light-duty clamp is called for. To date, these haven't been used yet but I'm not bothered in the least.

As far as I'm concerned these are just as useful as any of the weighted Helping Hand things, which are top-heavy and don't stay upright, and also don't stay tightened with the wing nuts. At least you can anchor these with the tape, and if you really don’t find these helpful, at $1.50 consider these disposable.

Needs one of those "little blue pills" ;-)
For a buck-fifty, I was expecting something that would have to be attached to something else to keep it from moving around, so that part's okay with me.

The problem I have is that it's not stiff enough to hold parts steady for assembly. Even a job as low-force as soldering two wires together is too much for it: it's likely to wobble and leave you with a cold joint.

It could be great if you wanted something cheap and flexible for holding things that are subject to much force. Like, say, holding jewelry in a display case. But, for jobs like electronic assembly, it's better to buy a second $5 unit if you're frustrated by the fact that the alligator clips on a single one are always winding up at awkward angles when you get them the right distance apart.
