CHARGER FOR NIMH CELLS, AA,AAA,C,D

I've seen many many similar chargers for sale from battery e-tailers: ie: "Fast charge" Ni-Cad or Ni-MH etc. Well this time AE "got" me. "Fast charge" on the $15-25 units for 4 OR 8 2500 ma "AA" batteries is 15-16 minutes as opposed to an estimated 9-10 HOURS for this unit for 4 2500 ma. "AA"s. No indication (as is on the web catalog discription) of the battery being fully charged. And it's a "dumb" charger. It doesn't switch to a "float charge" after charging. It also doesn't have a "conditioner" for rechargable batteries( a cycle that drains them for peak performance, vital for Ni-Cads, needed for Ni-MH's. Check www. Sanyo.com technical page about Ni-NH's partial discharge characteristics. They have a much smaller "memory effect" than Ni-Cads, but they DO have one.) So, for $3-13 dollars more, you can get a GOOD charger that will also work in your car. Did AE misrepresent this item? No, but they were careful in what they DIDN'T say about it. Not worth the S&H to return it, so I'm out $14 bucks I guess. Google "rechargeable AA batteries" and 10 sites will show battery chargers for sale for under $25 with 8 times the features.

Is that it also does 9V batteries with snaps, besides all the 1.5V cells ranging from AAA to D size. My dau. is especially pleased with that feature-looks to me like it will do 2 9V @ a time- enlarge the picture and have a look for yourself!

Who received this charger from me at Christmas a yr. ago, is that it is absolutely wonderful-does all her batteries, both NiMH and NiCd efficiently; she's very happy, but of course, she's my dau. and might not be totally objective. I ought to point out that this charger costs less than 1/2 @A/E what similar models cost elsewhere- didn't tell her that!
