Well not so good but still....
I bought my DVM890 back some years ago; It worked fine for quite awhile but then it broke down. It looks like the "ON" switch failed.
I did use it extensively and since I do need another DVM I will buy another DVM890 from All Electronics.
I already have a smaller DVM850BL and I am totally happy with it.

INCREDIBLE VALUE
Finally 'Threw In The Towel' & gave up on my 20+
year old B&K 2815 Digital Meter.
Pretty much agree with everyone else - just a few things to add.
1) This is a fairly large meter: approx. 8" long by 3 3/4" wide & 2" deep.
2) However, the Black Case of the meter easily separates from the Yellow Rubber Cradle/Stand, making it about 7 1/4" by 3 1/2" by 1".
3) The rotary selector dial has an indentation mark but needs to be painted (with a white marker) to prevent a wrong setting.
4) This meter is not for the novice! There are too many choices that may lead to confusion and everything is closely spaced together.
With this said, the Velleman 890 has to be the most incredible value ever seen in a Digital MultiMeter (including the temperature probe).
I will report back if I have anything else to add.

Short life, questionable accuracy
I've had this meter for about a couple years when it gave up the ghost, reading near zero for DC voltage. Wasn't able to figure out the problem so in the trash it went. When it was working the DC voltage readings seemed pretty close to a Fluke a friend hand. Temperature readings with the thermometer probe were way off, usually low by 5 to 10 degrees at room temperature. Ended up replacing the unit with Craftsman item # 82141 at less than a fourth the price. Sure, it doesn't measure capacitance or temperature, but appears to do all other things as well in a similar package.

About DVM890
I have recently bought the DVM890 and i must say that its very useful. It has a wide screen and many other options such as Temperature,Capacitance,etc... The 2 things missing in it is a hold button and a background light.

Excellent for Continuous Monitoring Use
I bought this meter about 4-5 years ago; it has operated flawlessly since. I currently use it to monitor the float voltage on a bank of backup cells, where it is hard-wired into the float charger's output. The auto-off feature is very handy, allowing me to keep it "on" all the time. I just reset the meter, watch it for as long as a care to, then walk away -- I don't have to remember to turn it off. A typical 9v alk. bat. lasts about a year or so in "continuous" operation.
The capacitance measurement feature is also useful in testing unmarked surface mount capacitors. A nice bonus if you just buy this meter for measuring V/I/R.
