FLASHING RED, GREEN, BLUE LED

Tri-color 5mm LED with a built-in chip that sequentially flashes each color quickly for about 5 seconds, then slowly fades the colors in and out over the next 30 seconds. Other colors are created by the mixing of the three main colors. Ideal for attention getting displays, jewelry, automobiles, etc. Standard T 1-3/4 clear package with leads. Operates on 3.5 Vdc @ 40 mA.

failed after a couple days

this could be user error, but I checked all i could and havent found any shorts in my wiring. I used 470 ohms of resistance at 12 volts (20 ma)... the light got dimmer and dimmer each day. Now it is barely visible and only the red works. I tried a 220 resistor today but it doesnt change a thing now. EDITORS NOTE: This LED contains a chip which causes it to flash different colors and different speeds. Please note from the spec sheet that the rating is a bit higher then normal LED's 3 -6 vdc @ 40 ma.

Help me chose the means to drive these LEDs

I am planning on purchasing a whole number of these LEDs for an upcoming play in August and need to know which driver they carry works best. Are these LEDs safe for lighted fashions and costumes? Excellent LED device

Does not need a limiting resistor - it is happy with voltages from just over 3VDC to nearly 9 - have had faithful service from two CR2032 watch batteries (3.0 VDC nominal each) in series direct to the LED WITH NO LIMITING RESISTOR - as the batteries mush out in voltage, the lights just keep on going.

Great for Antec/Chenming case feet

I added four of these LEDs to the clear acrylic case feet of my Chenming case for a custom light display. They look GREAT!
