7 WATT MONO AMPLIFIER KIT

Simple to build with great results! I use these as underwater communications amplifiers aboard small submarines in operation diving wrecks in the Great lakes.

I'm actually driving three speakers. A 31/2 main speaker sealed in an insulated 32 oz plastic coffee cup, a small subwoofer box from a set of cheap computer speakers that died. It probably has a four inch speaker. I wired five small crossover coils in series, four of them were from item #LX-156. It won't rattle the walls but it sure fills in the sound. Then I'm also running a small tweeter. The sound is much cleaner and almost as loud as the Altec Lansing ACS-33 computer speakers I used to play my mp3's though. I use them 6 hours a day in a hot truck that is over 100 degrees. The circuit has never over heated. I did use a little of my own thermal grease on the heat sink. It calls for a 47K audio taper potentier which does not seem to be available here so be prepared to get one if you expect to have a volume control.
