Sansa Slot Music Player....What a find! Great for many things......
I have made a more detailed review on the Sansa Slot Music Player /w Micro SD ad...
This is an interesting MP3 player.
Get the manual from on line, you receive no manual with the unit.
First, the User Manual is here

Some History...
The Sansa SlotMusic Player is a creation from SanDisk.
They visioned a player that would play music from the micro card. The card would be marketed and packaged with pre recorded music as an alternative to the CD.
The Pre Rec cards were costly and did not go well with the buying public.
End of class.....
Now lets talk about the player itself.
This unit was never intended to play more than the amount of songs on a CD, say 21 tracks. So the player was designed to give you all the abilities of a cassette recorder.
You have play, stop, pause, fast foward, next track, fast rear
When you turn off the unit, then turn it back on, it will start where you last played a track.
Formats.. plays MP3 or WMA
LETS TALK ABOUT THE FORMATS.
CDs are recordered in WMA. The IPUDs use MP3 which is a less forgiving encyption of music formats and sounds less original and has some quirks to playback.
THIS SANSA SLOT MUSIC PLAYER PLAYS BOTH MP3 and WMA. Tracks from the CD in WMA can be duplicated ( legally please ) to the Slot Memory Card, and you have sound comparible to a CD replay, not the not so great MP3 reproduction. Even the MiniDiscs had reproduction that rivaled the CD format., and you can get this sound from this MicroDisc Player. If you read the reviews of this Sansa Slot Music Player, THEY DON'T MENTION the WMA playback ability, but then the reviews are more condemning than praise for the Sansa unit so not mentioning that bit of info tended to lean opinion on their side.
MEMORY... There is no mention of how big of a micro card you can use in the manual other than it can use the high capacity memory. In general, a 4 GB memory card is huge and you can get away with a 1 GB card.
The original Slot Music cards had the music AND videos that you played on the computer as well as other information.... A concept I wish had come about years ago on cd or dvd. These Slot Music Players were positioning to take over the where the CD market had reigned for so long but the public did not understand how flexible the Slot music disc was.
One article says it will play from a 16 GB memory but be forwarned,16GB holds a lot of music or whatever and this player does not find music by skipping over a huge number of songs easily and there is no display to guide you.
Battery is said to last 12 hours
Transferring music is as simple as drag and drop on the memory card.
Now that you know what the unit is designed for, IT DOES EVERYTHING IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO and does it well.
The original idea of selling micro discs as music format seems to not have happened ( on the market around 2008-2009 ) and using this player for SMALL compilations works VERY WELL, with about 20 tracks on the memory, you can easily search / skip to find songs.
HOWEVER, using VERY LARGE compilations, say 50 tracks, will not go well if you have to skip or search for songs, however, this is an excellant player for trips if you make your compilations long and just let them play...
This is also excellant for pod casts, AUDIO BOOKS, and or sending family messages to family.
( Mr Phelps, if you decide to accept this assignment for the Mission Impossible team ........ ), or family members in the military...MAN THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!!
I feel SanDisc missed the mark on this item, it is far more than just a music player.
This was my introduction to MP3 and WMA and compared to the MD, this Sansa Slot Music player works well ..and even better if you think out of the box.. The sound seems as good as the MD reproduction sound. Use your imagination for what you can used it for as well.....
Great for headphones or ear buds, a little more work to get it to play on the Automobile stereo...
