People need to learn how to read
Of course the solenoid gets hot people!!!!. The Page clearly states that the duty cycle is 10% I.E. if you pulse it for 6 seconds, you need to leave it off for 54 seconds. Of course I guess if you could read, you would also know that it would ideally not be for CONSTANT USE. So, if you are needing a solenoid with a reasonable pull force, for a short duration, I.E. as an electronic trunk opener, this would be your solenoid. Seriously, learn how to read people, if it is not a constant type, it usually means you are going to push the button and then leave the darn thing alone for a while.

Okay but...
This solenoid is not very high quality (all Chinese made) and does get very hot even running at 12v. I can't complain because for 1.50 its cheap enough. (ohh and mine came with pin header terminals not wire leads as shown)

Good for some aplications
These solinoids are good solid working units. But there 3-pound pull force is not strong enough to pull a stair step trigger for a paint ball gun.

Strong pull and speed
Loved this solenoid, but lacks the ability to go a long time. Got pretty hot when doing a rapid fire of pulls over a few minutes and finally lost ability to operate until cooling down again.
If using for intermittent effect, great bargain, but definitely not for contant use.

Powerful
For the price, this is a powerful solenoid with a strong return. I wish they made a similar unit at half the size. It will make a noisy click, but you can lessen this by inserting a felt pad for it to stop on.
