Works fine off 9v too; they're sealed so you can't open them to adjust the flash rate, but highly recommended. If I recall correctly they draw a little under 500ma

Great product! Add a clamshell mount, 12V cigarette plug, a little electrical tape, and you have yourself a very workable emergency strobe for volunteer fire/ambulance use.
