Have 250 feet of wiring with 17 led lamps on dock, powered by 12vac transformer. Had these diodes on each lamp and, at output of transformer. Lightning took out 3 gfci's and lights would not work. Found diode at transformer shorted and of course it tripped 5 amp fuse. I had it covered with fiberglass/silicon tubing as these are known to flame out. It did, saving string of lights. Cheap insurance. MOV's on 120 volts to gfci's did nothing to protect them, or transformer.
