Black plastic shell. Gold-plated plug and terminals. Set screw for solderless connection, up to 12 AWG wire. Socket hole in side for piggyback connection.
These are an excellent buy. They appear to be made of brass, except for the spring contacts and the set screw. The spring contacts are free to rotate and move along the inner shaft. I have to wonder why the contact isn't erratic. Yet, once in a banana jack, the contact is secure and a touch of solder would insure it. The BJL jacks are a perfect match, by the way, providing a snug fit. The set screw for the wire, a 2.5x.45, does not reach to the bottom of the tube, although there was no problem securing a #16 stranded, soldered and doubled over. The fit in a variety of meters and 5 way jacks is at least satisfactory or better. With the #16 stranded and doubled over wire the plastic sleeve is free to move about, making the assembly feel a bit sloppy. The good news is this has no affect on the connection.
