The USB specs say you can go 5 meters (just about 16 feet!) without this, put this in, then go ANOTHER 3 meters on the other end of a repeater for total length of about 48 feet. I've gone 60 feet with this repeater alone in a "clean" non-interference area, with a single USB cable running from my desktop to my big screen for a presentation. These were all GOOD 2.0 cables running a 1.1 signal. Your mileage may vary.
This cable is great, I use it to extend the reach of my internet adapter, and it does a great job, the signal isn't distorted or anything of the such, it's perfect. I would definitely recommend this if you needed an extra long USB cable for whatever reason.
