Good adapter

Reviewer: from Madison, WI USA

This is a good plug/adapter. 3.5A 5x20mm fuse inside. Sticker on side says rated 3A, brand name Gecker. Spring is captured so it doesn't fall out. Enough room inside to put a small LED/resistor. I didn't dissemble completely, but any diode would seem to be in series, rather than across the contacts (at least on this one). Just friction lock and tape on the cord end to keep it from opening up. If tape is cut it would be wise to re-tape it. And it is short 1.50" from collar to tip end. You might need to turn down the collar, or extend the tip a bit. Just barely makes contact with my socket.

Short, with crowbar diode. Plug 3.5mm OD, 1.2mm ID

Reviewer: from NJ USA

I measure the coax plug at 3.5mm OD, 1.2mm ID.
This is nicely made, but three things may matter to you. First, the cable is the shielded coaxial type. Second, there is a crowbar diode inside the plug that will short and blow the fuse if the polarity is reversed on the socket contacts--potentially a useful protection. (It won't be hard to remove if you want to replace it with something like a series Schottky or a reversed mostfet.) Third, the lighter plug is rather short and the grip forms a shoulder that will keep it from reaching the deepest sockets.
