These are a fast capacitor, and give a nasal quality to guitar tone. Used as a treble bypass cap across a volume pot they can retain some sparkle in the tone when the volume is dialed back. These will put a bit of a nasal quality or lack or quality in your tone. That is all subject to personal taste. Polystyrene caps are not very common anymore, so when you see one, try it out and see if it works for you.
