On it's own works well. It has a one-shot and continuous replay button. Makes a great practical joke gizmo.

Need more volume?

If you need more volume for your project, consider adding a class "D" amplifier module (AMP-8403) to the Play Record module. This will work with the same supply voltage (Or you you can use 3 AA Alkaline batteries for both.) I'd also suggest using a 4" to 8" (or larger) speaker. Since the Amp-8043 is a stereo amplifier, you can connect the inputs in parallel and use two speakers. The amplifier uses power when on (although not very much) so you should turn it off if using battery power. I found this combo works very well with speech. I have not tried it with music, but it should be ok for most uses.
