Switch illuminates only when in the ON position. Two silver colored contacts are the switch poles, (must be Vdc+ on either contact) and a GND on the gold colored contact for the LED to work.
I chose these due to only needing a round hole versus other 'water resistant' marine switches that require rectangular holes to be made.
Overhauling a pontoon boat, using these to control LED Nav lights, depth finder, stereo, deck lights, other low power goodies, etc. Rubber boot extends to back side of mounting flange, so water will not seep by flange, past the spring tabs and into switch. Not too worried about water ingestion anyway, panel will be well protected from helm top.
Only concern is the quality of the switch action, so will have to order some spares just in case!

This switch is just what I needed to finish my Arduino/Genie garage door alarm system.
The description should state that this is an LED lit switch as it is polarity sensitive. It turneds out that is what I wanted. It also states that it is 12V but it's bright enough at 5V.
